Texas History Word Search, free printable PDF preview

For nine years Texas was not a state but a REPUBLIC, with its own currency, its own army and diplomats posted to London and Paris. ANNEXATION ended that in 1845 and the LONESTAR flag stayed anyway. This word find follows the rest of it, from the MISSION buildings and the ALAMO through COMANCHE country to the CATTLE drives and the OILFIELD that changed the economy again.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the ALAMO remembered?

A small garrison held a former MISSION compound for thirteen days against a far larger force and lost. The defeat became the rallying cry for the campaign that followed.

What made the LONGHORN suited to Texas?

It could walk enormous distances, feed on rough brush and survive drought, which is exactly what a cattle drive to a railhead demanded.
