A new grid every day
The puzzle here changes at midnight UTC, and everyone solving on the same date gets the same grid. That makes the timer worth something: your seven minutes on a Wednesday is the same seven minutes as everyone else's.
Difficulty builds through the week. Monday and Tuesday are gentle, midweek sits in the middle, and by Friday the givens have thinned out enough that you will need pencil marks. It is a more forgiving shape than starting every day from scratch at the same level.
If today's is too hard, or too easy
The archive has 76 grids sorted by difficulty, from 4×4 for children up to evil, and none of them expire.
Frequently asked questions
How often does the puzzle change?
Once a day, at midnight UTC. Everyone solving on the same date gets the same grid, so times are comparable.
Does the difficulty change day to day?
Yes. Monday and Tuesday are easy, midweek is medium, and Friday and Saturday are hard. It builds through the week rather than throwing you at an expert grid on a Monday morning.
Can I still play yesterday’s puzzle?
Not from this page, but there are 76 other grids in the archive, sorted by difficulty, and they do not expire.
Do I need an account to track progress?
No account, and no tracking. The timer runs in your browser and nothing is stored.
