Today’s theme is Monsters Word Search (medium: some words run backwards). Want it on paper with the theme’s own fixed grid? That page has the printable PDF. More like it: Fantasy word searches.

One puzzle a day, the same for everyone

This page picks one theme from the 714 word searches on the site and builds a fresh grid for it every day at midnight UTC. Nothing is random on your end: whoever opens the page on the same date sees the same eleven words in the same places, which is what makes the timer worth glancing at. Drag across the letters to play here, or download the PDF and solve it with a pen.

The grid is built from the date, not copied from the theme’s page, so even if a theme you have done before comes round again, the letters are in new places and the answer key is different.

The week builds up

Monday and Tuesday are the gentle end: words only run left to right and top to bottom. Wednesday and Thursday mix in words running backwards. Friday and Saturday bring diagonals as well, and Sunday sits in the middle. It is the same shape the daily sudoku follows, so a Monday puzzle is a five-minute warm-up and a Saturday one asks for a proper look. Every few days a theme for the time of year takes over: a holiday in the weeks before it, the current month, or the season. Holiday themes only appear in their own stretch of the calendar, so there is no Easter puzzle in September.

If today’s theme is not your thing

Every theme has a permanent page of its own, and they are sorted by subject. The kids collection keeps to short, familiar words; the adult collection leans harder. If you would rather build a daily word find from your own list, the word search maker takes any words you paste in.

Frequently asked questions

When does the daily word search change?

At midnight UTC. Everyone who opens this page on the same date gets the same theme and the same grid, so a time on the built-in timer is worth comparing.

Is this the same puzzle as the theme’s own page?

Same word list, different grid. Every theme on the site has a fixed grid on its own page. The daily version rebuilds the grid from today’s date, so the letters land in new places even when a theme comes round again.

Does the difficulty change through the week?

Yes. Monday and Tuesday themes only run across and down. Midweek adds words running backwards, and Friday and Saturday add diagonals. Every few days a theme for the time of year takes over instead (a holiday coming up, the month or the season you are in) at whatever difficulty that theme comes in.

Can I still get yesterday’s puzzle?

Not from this page, and there is no day-by-day archive. But every theme lives on its own page with a printable PDF and answer key, and none of the 714 pages expire. Today’s theme is linked just above the grid.
