Empty grids you can actually use

Most blank grids online print with uneven lines or a heavy watermark. These are plain: a bold border around each 3x3 box and a lighter line between cells, sized to stay crisp whether you print one large grid or six small ones. The 9x9 is the classic puzzle; the 6x6 and 4x4 are gentler and good for younger solvers.

Setting your own puzzles is the main reason people reach for a blank grid. Fill a valid solution lightly in pencil, rub out the cells you want to hide, and you have a puzzle to hand to someone else. The smaller grids are the easiest place to start.

Frequently asked questions

How do I print a blank sudoku grid?

Choose how many grids you want per page, then use the Print button (or Ctrl/Cmd+P). The controls and text are hidden automatically, so only the clean grids print.

What size sudoku grids can I print?

The standard 9x9 grid with 3x3 boxes, plus smaller 6x6 and 4x4 grids that suit children or a quicker puzzle. Pick the size above the grids.

Can I get several grids on one page?

Yes. You can print 1, 2, 4 or 6 blank grids per page, which is handy for classrooms or for drafting your own puzzles.

Is there a blank sudoku grid with pencil marks printed in?

Yes. Switch the style from Blank to Pencil marks and every cell prints with the digits 1 to 9 already in it, in small light grey type laid out 3 by 3. You cross candidates off as you eliminate them instead of writing them in, which is faster and keeps the cell readable. On a 4x4 grid the digits are 1 to 4 in two columns.

Can I print these on A4 or US Letter?

Both. Pick A4 or US Letter above the grids and the page size changes to match. The grids themselves are a fixed width in millimetres with square cells, so they sit inside the margins of either paper size and the squares never come out as rectangles. A4 is the default.

Are these blank grids free?

Yes, completely free to print with no account and no watermark. Use them to invent puzzles, practise pencil marks, or teach the layout.
