For their first centuries, samurai fought mainly as mounted archers, and the KATANA became their symbol later. The class lasted until the MEIJI government abolished it in the 1870s, banning the wearing of swords in public in 1876. This word find covers the whole arc, from the SHOGUN and DAIMYO at the top to the RONIN who served no one. The site's Japan grid covers the country more broadly.
