Pop art took the pictures nobody called art, a SOUPCAN, a page of COMICS, a BILLBOARD, and hung them in a gallery in the 1960s. The methods were borrowed from printing: a SILKSCREEN pushed the same image through a STENCIL over and over, and HALFTONE dots stood in for shading. This word puzzle keeps the techniques and the BOLD PRIMARY colors and leaves the famous names out.
Frequently asked questions
Why are there no artists named in this pop art word search?
Names are a quiz; techniques are a lesson. A student who knows what a silkscreen and a COLLAGE are can look at any pop print and see how it was made.
What is a HALFTONE?
A picture made of dots of different sizes. Newspapers used it to print photographs, and pop artists enlarged the dots until they became the point of the image.
