Blank Cursive Practice Paper
Ruled paper with no letters on it, in three line sizes: 5, 7 and 9 lines per page.
Large lines
Medium lines
Small lines
Blank ruled cursive paper is for the stage after tracing — when a child can form letters but still needs a guideline to keep them straight, sized, and sitting on the baseline. It’s also what you reach for to practice words a preset worksheet doesn’t cover: spelling words, a signature, a short note.
Choosing line size by age. The younger the writer, the wider the ruling should be. Early writers need tall, widely spaced lines that leave room for imperfect control; as handwriting matures, the lines narrow and move closer together, toward standard notebook paper. If letters are cramped and colliding, the lines are too small; if they wander and won’t stay even, the lines may be too large. Match the ruling to the hand, not the number on the box.
The three lines. Each row has a top line, a dashed midline, a baseline, and a faint fourth line below the baseline marking how far descenders reach: tall letters and capitals reach the top line, most lowercase letters fill from baseline to midline, and descenders drop just below the baseline.

Frequently asked questions
What line size should I use for my child’s age?
Wider, taller lines for young or beginning writers; narrower lines as handwriting matures. Adjust by how the writing looks — cramped means go wider, wandering means go smaller.
