Respiratory System Word Search, free printable PDF preview

The LUNGS do not pull air in. The DIAPHRAGM does, a sheet of muscle under the ribs that drops, makes room, and lets pressure do the rest. Air passes the LARYNX, goes down the TRACHEA, splits at the BRONCHI, and ends in about 480 million ALVEOLI, where OXYGEN crosses into a CAPILLARY and CARBON dioxide comes back out. This word find follows that path in eleven words.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the ALVEOLI so important?

They are where the actual exchange happens. Spread flat, the alveoli in two lungs would cover most of a tennis court, which is the surface area a body needs to load blood with oxygen fast.

Does this respiratory system word search include INHALE and EXHALE?

Yes, both. They are the two easiest finds on the list and a good warm up before the longer anatomy terms.
