To the U.S. National Weather Service, a blizzard has nothing to do with how cold it is: it takes winds or frequent gusts of 35 mph or more, plus falling or blowing snow that cuts VISIBILITY below a quarter mile, for at least three hours. This grid follows the storm itself, from the first GUSTS to the WHITEOUT and the SNOWPLOW that comes after. Words run across, down, backwards and up. The winter word search covers the season around it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a blizzard and a snowstorm?
Wind and visibility, not the amount of snow. A storm can drop a foot of snow and still not be a blizzard if the air is calm, while strong winds can whip snow already on the ground into a blizzard with little new SNOWFALL.
What is a nor'easter?
A storm that moves up the U.S. East Coast with winds blowing in from the northeast. Many famous New England blizzards were nor'easters. Word find grids use letters only, so it appears as NOREASTER.
