The name came before the machines: "artificial intelligence" was coined in a 1955 proposal for a summer research workshop at Dartmouth College, held the following year. This grid covers the ideas behind today's tools, from the DATASET a model learns from to the PROMPT a person types into a CHATBOT. Words run in all eight directions, diagonals included. Frequently asked questions
What is the Turing test?
A thought experiment Alan Turing proposed in 1950, which he called the imitation game: a judge holds text conversations with a machine and a person, and if the judge cannot reliably tell which is which, the machine passes. It is spelled as one word, TURINGTEST, in the grid.
What does training mean in AI?
TRAINING is the stage where a model is shown a large DATASET and adjusts itself, step by step, to spot each PATTERN and make a better PREDICTION. It is a good word puzzle for a class starting a unit on how these tools work.
